E-Portfolio for Professionals Learning and Education
E-Portfolio, a new tool for networking, introduces new ideas, mindful challenges, and self-assessment in critical learning. Digital portfolios polish the uneven ways of contacting recruiters in different companies and institutions for employment opportunities. I intend to share my knowledge and experiences and initiate a mutually respectful relationship with experts to promote my identity through my e-Portfolio.
The influence and advantages of computers to make comfort in our life and work is undeniable. It may have pros and cons, but I can exhibit my professional identity and improve in different skills, knowledge, perspectives by being open to my readers' feedback. It gifted me a voice of devotion to coaching students in the skills I had learned remotely. During the adult education program, I learned several practical knowledge and solutions for future opportunities but creating an e-portfolio was the first practical assignment of the EDEL6433: Evaluation and Assessment in Adult Education course.
Noticeable research about e-Portfolios illustrated the aspects and benefits of a new phenomenon in education. E-Portfolios show the commitment of post-secondary schools to education in the countries. From the social perspective, these platforms enable citizens to collect and monitor the proceeded social policies dominated inside the communities. In education, e-Portfolios motivate formative assessment learning, educational innovations, and reflecting on learned and trained knowledge between students and faculties. According to the three-pronged approach by Wagner and Jian (2012), the support of social media in creativity and innovation of new ideas resembled the idea of adapting social media in the e-Portfolio through four-pronged approaches: creating identities, generating ideas, evaluating ideas, and transforming knowledge. I am thankful to my classmates and Dr. Keith that their feedback helped me experience ongoing learning and change. This process ultimately resulted in forward, editing, transforming my knowledge, and establishing my professional e-portfolio. What I experienced throughout this project affirms that e-portfolios create the moments for students to synthesize the learned knowledge and develop their thoughts in a practical platform (Marshal et al., 2017). A smooth moving forward in learning because the feedback acted like brainstorming to get broader views in actions.
Creating than looking for employment opportunities in the competitive job market is another impressive and pragmatic description of the digital portfolio since they increase the chance of hiring for newly graduated students (Couros, 2014). Through networking, they invite the business recruiters to visit their blogs and identify the professional skills, knowledge, and ideas related to the posted jobs.
E-Portfolio from another angle would have a process of critical thinking university's students produce and exhibit the values of evolved technology engagement with curricula for global communication (Marshal et al. 2017). Novice initiators would commence e-portfolios from simple forms such as text pages, then grow embedding media and digital sources, discussion forums, and bringing new theories and research.
Researchers also concluded that the activities of teachers in the e-portfolio provide the feeling of freedom from isolation and give them the opportunity of networking through sharing experiences, developing self-assessment as a professional writer, and enhancing their capacities and availabilities for the support of the students (Rodesiler, 2017). For further fulfillment in this job, rubrics assist the educators in marking and giving feedback to the learners’ performances. Students would be active in learning and education by using social media in this project. Assessments of the students widely open their minds and reconnect them with the learned knowledge, showcase their proficiency and engagement with technology and present themselves as proactive professional learners.
The e-portfolios as genuine digital instruments act for connection, education, and democratic learning. Today, e-portfolios like social media connect people also encourage initiators to talk and discuss diverse ideas with self-confident perceptions.
